MISSION & OUTREACH
Element_2824a.JPG

St. Helena's offers a number of opportunities for you to put your faith into hands-on action. Mission trip participants find that their work changes lives, even as the experience changes their own life and deepens their faith. A number of mission opportunities are available to you.

Medical Mission to Honduras

A medical mission trip to Honduras has been planned for June 10-17.  SPAM canned meat has been found to be an excellent source of protein for people in Honduras who rarely get to eat a balanced meal that includes protein.  WE ARE COLLECTING SPAM THROUGH THE END OF APRIL.

In addition to SPAM, items needed are:  soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, cotton balls Q-tips, Bandaids, sewing kits, baseball caps, hats, and flip-flops.  Spam and other items may be dropped off at the church at any time.

Volunteers are needed and everyone is welcome to join the team.  Physicians, nurses, dentists, physician's assistants, and nurse practitioners are all needed for this trip.

Darr Wilson is the coordinator of this mission trip.  For more information call him at (830) 537-3938.

YOU CAN BUILD A HOME FOR THE HOMELESS

The "Mexico Work Mission" is a hands on mission experience coordinated through Constructores Para Cristo (Builders for Christ), better known as CPC. Any member or active participant in the participating churches, who is over the age of 14, is invited to apply. Experience is not necessary and applicants will be accepted regardless of building skills or physical strength. However, please remember that this is a labor intensive ministry. Not only do members of the parish family build the home, but the parish provides the money for the purchase of materials for the new home.

These are short, 5-day trips that will change your life.  We stay in a Holiday Inn in Piedras Negras, and all our meals are prepared on site.

You can support this mission through signing up to go, praying for the team, and through financial contributions to buy bricks, mortar, windows, doors, roof panels, and a foundation.   Our next trip to Piedras Negras will be in SEPTEMBER, 2009.

Thanks to you the tournament raised very close to $30,000 on October 6.  Many thanks to all who prayed, played, and gave to help out those in need in our community.  THANKS!
